Craving more books like The Hunger Games? Well, Holly Jennings has hit the mark with her new dystopian release Arena. Set in the not-so-distant future, 2054, the book centers around the RAGE tournaments: the Virtual Gaming League’s elite online competition broadcast weekly to millions.  Competitors in real life train to be modern gladiators who then fight in the virtual world to a digital victory or death.

The main character, Kali Ling, is chosen to be the first female captain in RAGE tournament history, and she is at the top of the world until one of her close teammates overdoses. She is then forced to confront the truth about the virtual tournament and decide if she will continue to fight for money and fame or expose the Virtual Gaming League’s dark secrets.

Though the book started out slow, it quickly developed into a page turning suspense that was difficult to put down and sure to interest more mature science fiction readers!
